Smartphone Features That Influence Consumer Purchases

Smartphones are cellular phones that are able to do numerous tasks, like playing music, taking photographs, checking and sending emails, and running various apps. Unlike other phones, smartphones have much more powerful processors and run operating systems, and therefore are essentially pocket computers.

Smartphones are becoming more and more popular in the last five years as more individuals use their phones to surf the Internet and as we live increasingly mobile lives. Smartphone use have become so prevalent that these days the question is no longer whether or not an individual will purchase a smartphone but rather, why do consumers choose one phone over another? Here are a variety of factors that seem to have a bearing on consumer purchases.

Operating system

The two most common platforms are Google's Android and the Apple's iOS. There are way more applications designed for iOS devices but Apple's firmly controlled ecosystem may feel stifling for people who would like to customize their mobile phones more. This is one reason why a lot of consumers prefer or have switched to Android devices.

Form factor

Touch screens are currently a standard for smartphones. The screens on these gadgets seem to keep getting larger. Case in point, Apple's latest iPhone iteration is now 4 inches tall, a first in iPhone's history. In terms of screen size, Samsung's Galaxy Note is definitely the largest, at an exceptional 5.3 inches diagonally. Consumers seem to choose models with at least 4-inch screens since it allows for easier browsing and typing.

Call quality

You buy a smartphone mainly to make and receive calls, so it is sensible to be exacting when it comes to voice quality. Prior to buying a phone, it would be helpful to read reviews, paying great attention to network coverage; earpiece, microphone, and transmission quality; and speakerphone volume.

Camera

Sharing pictures on the Internet is a popular activity for smartphone users, hence, it is a good idea to pay attention to camera quality. Besides the quality of the camera itself, also look into the photo capturing and editing features installed on the phone. Based on many reviews, Samsung Galaxy SIII and Nokia 808 PureView are models with the best cameras at the moment.

Upfront prices

Smartphones are sold at various price points. In general, those that are sold without contracts are the priciest. One of the least expensive smartphones you can find today is Jiayu G3 Android phone. This phone can be purchased in China, and is sold at 899 Yuan or 140 dollars. It is the successor to the Jiayu G2, which became popular to many users when it was launched in China. Go here if you want more details on Jiayu G3.

Smartphones such as JiaYu G3 are now prevalent because it allows people to surf the Web and remain productive while on the go. Smartphones have various features and they are sold at different price points, but the best one to get is one that fits your budget and needs.

Apple iPhone 5 Review and Features

The iPhone 5 is almost the same smartphone as the earlier iPhone 4s. It is thinner with a faster processor! This iconic phone just got a little better, its much more refined due to the trending larger front screen and thinner profile. As an iPhone user I was curious to see how the new iPhone 5 measured up to the older version. How can this new generation iPhone become even better and faster in only a short period of time? Can the fine people at Apple create something visionary or will they continue to bring us the same old thing dressed up with a few extra features? This was a huge challenge to conquer. The iPhone 5 is a much better phone from the bottom upwards. Instead of reviewing this new iPhone model I think it makes sense to give you my honest opinion from an actual customer.

First of all the one thing you will notice right away is how light the phone is. Almost 20% lighter with a much larger surface area, which makes it feel even more lighter. This iPhone 5 doesn't feel cheap at all it takes us back to the original days of the metal back. It has changed in a number of ways such as screen size, layout of the charging connector, distance between the ear piece and display at the bottom. Instead of a glass back it is now made up of aluminum, just like the mac pro! It is much more solid and you can feel the quality of craftmanship built into this devise.

The headphone jack used to be on top of the iPhone but in the new iPhone 5 it is moved to the bottom. I'm not sure if that actually made sense because now if you place the phone on a cup holder in the car it will have to be upside down but as you pick it up it will be easier to use right away. The new configuration had something to do more with the actual internal parts and how they fit the previous design. Apple was able to make this new model thinner just by moving this accessory. Another major change is the new connector. It's called the lightning and it's very small and reversible. It is more solid and won't break as often. These two changes enabled Apple to make the iPhone 5 thinner.

An adapter is available from Apple to add to make your existing cable into an extension to fit the new iPhone 5. They cost $30 and are available soon.

The last changes are the new nano sim card slot, that introduces a new sim card again. Upgraded speakers and microphones are added to the changes as well. Crystal clear speakers are clear and undistorted. They have 3 microphones to help with video recording and noise cancellation.

As far as I'm concerned, this new iPhone 5 is almost twice as fast as its previous models and it the difference is immediate and pronounced. Using the web it launches instantly, saving pictures are instantaneous as well, this adds to an overall better experience. A new LTE network adds to the speed of the new iPhone 5. Panoramic photos can be taken now and a better motion stabilizer when taking 1080p video.

This new iPhone is more than just numbers and specifications, it is everything that embodies the Apple brand. It represents the best of the best in features and materials which justifies it's top place as the leader in the new generation of smartphones.
