2013 - An Unexciting Year in Mobile Phones?

2012 has been, as expected, quite simply the most exciting year in the history of mobile phones- not to mention consumer technology in general. We've already seen the dawn of a new tablet PC war that was recently joined by the iPad Mini, arrival of the iPhone 5 that we had originally expected to see previous year and the launch of Samsung Galaxy S3 - the biggest and best Android Smartphone in the history of the market.

In fact, there have been more major product launches in 2012 than in any other year since the dawn of the Smartphone revolution, with records being broken across the board and new standards being set on a daily basis. Seeing such trends, you'd probably assume that 2013 is going to kick things up a notch and basically run circles around 2012 in terms of excitement and Smartphone prowess.

Sadly however, you'd be very much mistaken. Let's see how:

Be Careful what you Wish for

The situation as is stands at present, can be illustrated in the form of a single device - that being the legendary iPhone 5 from Apple. Ever since iPhone 5 failed to make an appearance last year, the rumor-mill went relatively crazy in its attempts to paint a weird and wonderful picture of what to expect. From a larger screen to a faster processor to a slimmer case to a better battery to 4G LTE connectivity and so on, the wish-list was a large and most realistic one.

Fast-forward to Q3 2012, the iPhone 5 finally arrived and made good on the hype. As expected and hoped, it delivered a larger screen, slimmer body, new OS, better battery, 4G LTE and so forth. What's more, it immediately broke all existing Apple sales records and continues to do so today.

So, why is it then that even taking into account all of the above, tech-gurus are still not as excited as they should have been?

Bigger, Not Better

Well, the simple answer is the fact that while the iPhone 5 took several things to the next level in terms of specs and features, it didn't actually bring anything new to the table whatsoever. Yes it was faster than the iPhone 4S; yes its screen was bigger; yes it had 4G LTE connectivity and it was pretty amazing to look at; but technically is was nothing more than an iPhone 4S with a shot of espresso woven into the lining. In fact, Apple's Android rival Smartphones had already been offering massively faster processors, larger screens and 4G LTE for months.

Is this really what it has come to? Just recycling old ideas and giving them a new lick of paint or injection of vitamins?

A Gloomy Outlook

Sadly, when looking at the current Mobile Phone market realistically; exactly where else could developers go that hasn't already been done? Smartphones are already all-powerful computers and digital cameras with phones attached; therefore, how will it ever be possible to break the mold again?

Based on such facts, expect big things in 2013; though pretty much nothing we haven't already seen before!

2012 has been registered as best as far as growth and development in Mobile Phones is considered. However, things might just be slightly lacking in the coming year. Learn more about different aspects that might serve to hinder the advancement of Mobile Phones industry.

Mobile Phones Are a Sign of Change in Our Society

Mobile phones have become the staple in the way we live our lives today. Many people are unaware of what they would do with their daily lives if their phones were taken away. Along with the different benefits that one receives when using cellular phones there are other advantages such as price that can set these phones apart from home phones or other sources of communication.

Benefits of Owning a Cellular Phone

When you own a cellular phone you would be able to receive numerous benefits and each one of these benefits would help you in one way or another. The first main benefit of owning one of these phones is that you get the mobility of a hand free and wireless device. Many people who use the traditional home phones, with wires and cables, are changing over to using one of these mobile phones because they can take it with them on the go. The main benefit here is mobility. With a cellular phone you are able to take it with you while you travel, while you run errands, and while you are away from the home. If you rely solely on a home phone you will find that you miss important phone calls while you are out of the house. Using one of these home phones is nearly impossible unless you purchase an answering machine to go with it.

Another great benefit is that you can find a phone that features everything that you are looking for. Unfortunately there are some phones that don't have many features but on the other hand there can be some phones that offer way more features than you could possibly ever need. In order to find the perfect phone you would want to do your research and wade through all of the different phones until you find one that has only the different features that you are looking for.

Different Prices of Mobile Phones

When it comes to choosing a phone to go with that would be perfect for you then you would want to choose one that is in your price range or budget that you have set aside. By making sure that you follow with your budget you will be able to not go too overboard and purchase a phone that you will not be able to pay for. These phones come in a variety of different prices so depending on your budget you will be able to find the correct one for you.

Usually the phones that have little to no extra features cost less. The phones that have every feature underneath the sun will be more costly. Make sure that you talk to the service provider to see if the phone that you are looking to purchase is not only affordable but it is well worth the money that you want to spend on the product.

Purchasing mobile phones can be a great investment especially in a world where we are always on the go. By doing the proper research and looking around you will be able to find that perfect mobile phone for you.

Mobile phones not only are great while on the go but they can be a great investment for your family. These phones will set you apart in a crowd and finding the perfect mobile is as easy as looking for what you want to see in a phone.

Google Readying New Nexus Mobile Phones - Apple Fights Back With Massive New Product Launch

Talk of the town in mobile-technology industry for past several months has been "Will they or won't they?" situation surrounding the iPad Mini. Ever since the idea of a smaller iPad was first debunked by co-founder Steve Jobs in 2010, the world has been dying to find out whether or not the Cupertino collective was bluffing. Well, recently Apple seemed to confirm that they were; as despite no new mobile phones making an appearance, the iPad Mini was officially born!

... and it certainly didn't come to the party alone.

Strength in Numbers

The arrival of the iPad Mini has come to be expected with the same level of certainty as the sun rising in the morning. The incredible success stories of the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Google Nexus 7 had made the iPad Mini inevitable; therefore, its appearance recently was not exactly a surprise.

What was a surprise, however, was the way Apple decided to up the ante considerably by throwing all manner of goodies into the affray, stopping just short of including the kitchen sink. Along with the iPad Mini, the world was also introduced to the slightly more-affordable 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, new Mac Minis and perhaps most surprising of all, a brand-new iPad 4.

Apple is long known to reveal and unleash new iPads closer to the springtime, so what exactly is their game here? Why launch so many products at once that could steal attention from each other? Possibly could it be to make the most of the Christmas buying season?

Perhaps in part, but more likely the answer is an attempt to thwart the chances of Google and Microsoft thus stealing their thunder.

Google Nexus

While nothing is yet confirmed, rumor has it that Google's press event next Monday will herald the introduction of the all-new Google Nexus 10 tablet, which has a spec and feature list mighty enough to dethrone the iPad. In addition, the event is also scheduled to include the debut of the very first LG Nexus series of mobile phones, which again packs a wallop sizable enough to knock the iPhone 5 off its pedestal.

Given the fact that we already knew most of this, chances are the folks at Apple were way ahead of us all along and have thus acted accordingly. There's nothing like drawing attention away from a rival's latest and greatest product launch with one or two of your own - never mind the half a dozen or so Apple has thrown into the mix.

Microsoft Surface

Now here comes the Microsoft Surface Tablet as well, which has had the mother of all marketing campaigns thrown behind it and looks set to take the world by storm. While hitting the market as a very different animal than the iPad, the Surface Tablet nonetheless is gunning for the same market and stands a very good chance.

That is of course, unless Apple's tactics pay off and most have already forgotten about their rival brands and their upcoming products launches, which is doubtful to say the least.

Learn about how the big guns of communication industry trying to baffle each other out with their mobile phones, tablets and pads. See how Google vows to give a tough time to big names like Microsoft and Apple. With so many competitors in mobile phones and Tablet PC industry, it is quite interesting to see how things turn out to be.

Pro's and Con's of Pre-Paid Phones

So many people will wait in line for hours for the release of the most popular phone. Technology has advanced so much that a smart phone can rival some computers. With the latest phone you can experience some of the priciest fees. The phones seem to come out with newer versions every few month. At what point does paying for these phones and their contracts become too expensive? For some people going into an expensive phone plan is not an option. Many people can only afford to get a pre-paid phone. Often people have credit issues that give them limited choices.

No contract phones can certainly be less expensive. The reason is that the features are usually kept to the bare minimum. Sometimes the customer can choose not to have text message and voice mail. These features may be available, but can have limits. If you exceed the limits you could pay more than the traditional phone plan. This can be beneficial if you keep your usage to a minimum. If you are the person that doesn't use the phone as often, the pre-paid option could be a better choice.

Pre-paid carriers tend to have limited service areas, but some don't. Be careful not to select a carrier that does not provide service in area that you need. The smaller carriers rent towers which keep cost down. If so, service areas will be limited. Doing a little research and choosing the right carrier can save you a headache. Choosing one of the more popular companies may help avoid this. A contract plan does not always mean better service.

One of largest draw backs with using this type of service is limited phone options. Choosing a contract from a larger carrier will give you the ability to choose from the most popular phones. With the no contract option it is not likely that an iPhone or Galaxy would be available. Some offer smart phones, but the choices will be limited. Pre-paid plans typically only have specific phones that work with their service.

The most significant feature of pre-paid plans is no contracts. The contract plans usually require at least a year of paid service. Early termination of a plan with a contact can be expensive. With a prepaid service you can cancel at anytime. Pre-paid options offer cheaper phone options.

When deciding on a phone carrier, select a plan that will work best for you. Choosing the most popular company can be costly. Going with a pre-paid could save you money!

Cell Phones for the Hard of Hearing

The FCC now has requirements that have to be met by service providers and manufacturers of cell phones for the hard of hearing. Since January 2009, requirements to post information on service providers and manufacturers website have been a requirement. Wireless service providers are starting to offer information to their customers and training their employee's about hearing aid compatibility. For handsets using WI-FI, the FCC has not yet set any guidelines or requirements. As you can see the FCC is taking measures to see that hearing impaired people can make informative decisions when purchasing a cell phone.

Around 75% of the world population has cell phone access. So as you can see cell phones are necessities to everyone. Do you know that there are more mobile devices than people in the United States? With this kind of market companies are looking to satisfy their customers. This is big business and new technology is popping up every day that makes it easier to create devices for all kinds of people. People with hearing problems are looking to these new gadgets and expect manufacturers to provide a way for them to be able to use these devices just like ordinary people do.

The things to look for in a cell phone for those hard of hearing depend on the person buying the phone. They should be aware of how much of a hearing problem they have. This should be the starting point in looking at cell phones. If you wear a hearing aid than the cell phone you buy must be compatible with it. Buying a handset can help you because the phone is not close to your hearing aid and thus reduce interference. There two types, neck loops and ear loops and both do the same thing. Again, make sure your hearing aid is compatible with these devices.

If your hearing is not to bad maybe a cell phone with a good volume control is all you'll need. Make sure you try to find a phone with the volume button on the side instead of within the menu. This is easier to reach when adjusting the volume. Check the speaker phone, is it loud enough for you to hear? Can you use the phone on speaker phone if you are by yourself?

SMS texting can be a life savior for a person hard of hearing. Make sure the keypad is comfortable to use. There is software that can turn your voice into text but this is not reliable so you will have to check the text message every time but it could be easier than having to text a lot of messages. The most important thing to do when shopping for your cell phone is shop around and compare. This cannot be stressed enough. There are deals out there, you just need to shop.

Smart Talk on Smart Phones

Let's be honest. Your smart phone is an extension of yourself. In the past, leaving your mobile phone at home was not a big deal. But now, if you were halfway to work and you left your smartphone at home, you would risk being late just to go back and retrieve it. Much of your life is on your smart phone. Smart mobile phones let you go anywhere without worrying about missing anything. An important email from a contact or your boss could be received and read anytime and anywhere. Your social and professional life can now mix and intermingle. Even while on a much needed vacation, you can still attend to pressing work concerns or attend meetings via video conferencing. In the professional world texting has taken a backseat to emails because of smartphones. Text message lengths are limited and can only be received by another phone. Emails sent via smart phones can be sent not only to another phone but to a computer as well. Lengthy conversations free of charge, be it local or international can be had. Large files can be sent.

To start off, smartphones like your computers are equipped with Web, email and Personal Data Assistant or PDA capabilities. They are the answer to a working person's busy schedule. If you have a lot on your plate, great phones like this help keep us organized and be on top of things.

The most important perk smart phones have are the third-party applications or more commonly known as apps. Apps on your smart phones let you do your work without the need for regular computers. The busy professional can now create, edit, save, share and email documents, presentations and spreadsheets. Aside from these powerful work capabilities that smart phones give you, you can also work on them in real time with your colleague, location notwithstanding, and see the changes each of you makes. Certain apps in smart phones allow you to leave individual messages for each of your team members making it easier for you to follow threads and making the work more organized. Add-ons such as burn down charts are also available to help you keep track of time and work. For designers, image-tweaking apps can be downloaded straight to your smart mobile phone. During crunch time, smart mobile phones kick in with their presentation tool applications. Not only do they allow you to create, they also let you import existing presentations into it and edit them as well. Pictures and videos can also be taken with your smart mobile phones. Not only that, smartphones let you share, edit and send them as well.

The smart professional would do well to get a smart phone. Not only do smart phones function like traditional computers and are very handy, smart phones provide us with freedom in more ways than one. With mobile access to the Web and with the right applications installed, there would be no reason at all not to get one if you want to get ahead of your busy schedule.

3G and 4G For No Contract Verizon Wireless Phones

Verizon Wireless Phones come in a variety of makes and models, most running on 3G technology even as the carrier is busying installing their 4G network. BlackBerry Cell Phones for Verizon are among the most popular of brands available, with a feature set that defines it as, more properly speaking, a smartphone.

2G technology is the most widely used network technology for mobile phones. More than 80% of cellular phone users around the world use 2G technology at present. One disadvantage that 2G technology has compared to 3G is that data rates are limited - it is relatively slower than 3G. Lower data transfer speed means slower music and video downloads, problems when making a video conference call, or long waits for sending/receiving large media messages.

That is the main reason for the development of newer network technologies such as 3G that offer a data transfer speed of up to 2Mbps (2 Mega Bits per second). Anyone using a 3G phone knows that that is far from being true; in fact, it almost never exceeds 384Kbps, at most.

A new technology being developed these days, 4G, will supposedly allow data transfer speeds as high as 100Mbps (50 times faster than today's 3G!) outdoors, and a blasting 1Gbps indoors.

So what are the main features of 4G technology?

- Wireless internet with a bandwidth much wider than the 2G or the 3G - 100 MHZ.
- Much higher data transfer speed - up to 1Gbps.
- Video conference calls - with more than 2 callers, and due to the faster data transfer rates, less problems; also, will not get stuck as often as it does with 3G.
- Improved security features to prevent frauds and theft.
- On account of the wider bandwidths, data transfers will be relatively cheap

There are not enough details about 4G technology to compare with other technologies. Without a doubt it will be better, faster, and probably cheaper, but all users would have to get the new devices, meaning compatible devices (which probably aren't going to be cheap), and wait for the new networks and antennas that will go with this newest technology.

Anyway, NTT DoCoMo, the Japanese company working on devloping 4G technology in association with HP, estimates that 4G services will be launched (in Japan only) somewhere between 2010-2016, and it will probably take a couple more years after that for it to get to the United States so that we still have plenty of time to adjust and get ready.

This article on 3G and 4G was written by Paul Wise. Paul has used BlackBerry Cell Phones for Verizon for years and would recommend CellKraze.com to anyone looking for No Contract Verizon Wireless Phones without the contract.
